Mr. Boviatsis is Professor of Neurosurgery at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. He is Chairman of the 2nd Department of Neurosurgery at “Attikon” University Hospital. He is a pioneer in the field of Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery. After completing his M.D. degree at University of Athens Medical School, his Ph.D. degree in “ levels of neurotransmitters in the striatum of Wister type rats”, and his training in neurosurgery in 1992, he worked at the Department of Neurosurgery of Massachusetts General Hospital in Harvard University until 1996. He was trained in functional neurosurgery and especially in surgical treatment of movement disorders like Parkinson’s disease, tremor and dystonia. In 1997 he was elected as Lecturer in Stereotactic & Functional neurosurgery at National and Kapodistrian University. He passed through all the ranks and in 2017 he was elected as Full Professor in Neurosurgery. He is the writer of more than 100 peer review medical articles and he has more than 3150 citations.
