Panos Minogiannis

General Manager, Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center

Panos Minogiannis is the General Manager for the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center, leading its financial recovery achieved in the past two years. He earned his PhD from Columbia University in 2001. He is α 1999 Onassis Foundation scholar and the recipient of the 2001 Marisa de Castro Benton Award for outstanding dissertation for his thesis on European Integration and Health Policy. From 2009 to 2014, he was also a visiting lecturer at the same institution as well as at the Open University of Cyprus. After serving as the Health Services Coordinator for the ATHENS 2004 Olympics, he worked at executive level in the health sector in Greece, and the state of Qatar. He served as the CEO and President of the Board for the Athens Oncology Center “St. Savvas” from 2010 to 2013, where he led the clinical management teams that resulted in an overall 42% drop in hospital expenditures while patient admissions increased by 15%. At the same time, he secured European and private investment funds that reached the 40% mark of an annual budget to institute the first one day care facility for cancer patients, facility and structural improvement as well as targeted renewal of biomedical equipment. He has published five books and multiple articles on health policy issues.
